I still can’t figure out why this is the final installment? The Batman series has never been better and finally hitting it’s stride. So why now? Even if someone else continues the Dark Knight series, it won’t be the same without the Nolan/Bale combo.

I feel the same way about Transformers too. Though slightly more flawed, it could easily keep going,

With the 2011 Super Bowl in the books, we can now forget about Tom Brady’s long-term legacy for at least another season. He certainly deserves all the attention he recieves because the guy is good. One more Super Bowl victory and Brady will arguably be considered “The Greatest QB in History”.

Prior to the 2011 Super Bowl, stat geeks were hard at work preparing their case both for and against Brady. Being from Indianapolis, i’ve been trained to hate the Patriots. They are the enemy and under no circumstances to be praised. Watching Peyton Manning for 14 seasons makes it almost laughable to consider any QB better. But that Tom Brady is pretty amazing. There! I said it! Happy?

Eli Manning has now brought home two Lombardi trophies to Peyton’s one (though he did get his team to back to back Super Bowls). Yet Eli’s legacy is stiill in question, where Peytons is not.

In terms of rings, there are two QB’s who stand unmatched before Brady; Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana. Both have won four Super Bowls to Brady’s three. Some argue how a stump such as Bradshaw could be so lucky, while others call Montana a mere “system quarterback”.

But I digress.

I know we’re talking about Brady here, but it’s important to remember just how amazing Montana was. To even dare minimize his greatness is just plain ignorant. Stat junkies are missing the point.

Joe was a good QB that clearly had an “X-Factor”. He helped revolutionize an offensive system so complex that it ended up creating its own genre. That same system transformed a “good QB” into a legend because of his ability to comprehend and execute it.

That same system turned a “good QB” into a mastermind of reading and picking apart defenses. Thus, the emergence of the “smart QB”. (In my best NFL Films voice)- Joe Montana defined what the modern QB would soon become.

So to call Montana a mere “system QB” is silly. Montana was no more a product of the system, than the system was a product of Montana. It was the combination of both that turned “good” into legendary.

Besides, they didn’t call him “Christ in Cleats” for nothing.

So where then, does this leave Brady? For me, it’s more about the ones who took their craft and redefined the standard. Montana is certainly in that category, as well as many before him. But is Brady transforming the QB position into something new and refreshing by winning Super Bowls? Not really. But he is good at it, and he owns a lot of records.

I happen to own a lot of records too…

Consider these names: Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Gary Moore. Are any one of those guys better than the other? Seriously? I have to actually choose ONE? It’s very possible to choose just one based on personal preference. But to say one is the best of all time leaves too much left on the table.

Each oneis legendary (and by sheer coincidence, dead). Each one share the same genre of music (Blues), yet sound nothing a like from a technical perspective. Each of them took the same genre and transformed it into something that continues to evolve. Each are “Hall of Fame” artists and considered the best of their time and beyond. SRV could not have played any better to erase what Hendrix had done before him. SRV instead chose to honor Hendrix in his playing, not take his crown. That was Jimi’s crown that he earned himself. SRV wanted his own crown and he got it. These guys didn’t have Guitar Bowls to settle anything. They did what they did because they loved doing it and they were good at it. The same goes for Brady, Manning, Rapelisberrrrr uh… Roethlisberger, Montana, Elway, Marino, Unitas, etc.

Considering this comparison, you now must choose one as the greatest of all time!

Good Luck!

For the record, I think Brady is a fantastic QB. But just think of all the rings Manning would own by now if he had played for the Patriots? (I couldn’t resist!). Whether he wins his fourth Super Bowl or not, he’s certainly one of the greatest ever. But THE greatest? I don’t understand why a final determination has to be etched in stone? Were any of them not good enough?

Athletes have evolved over time. The game has changed, medicine, rehabilitation, and nutrition (not to mention the financial pressure to win). There is no reason why modern players shouldn’t be setting new standards, breaking records, and winning games. Otherwise it would make for a really boring sport.

The greatness of a player should be relevant to the era in which they played. It’s like trying to compare modern race drivers to those from different eras. Have those cars not changed? The rules, safety, etc? I think you get my point.

A much more entertaing debate would be “Who gets the hottest chicks: stud quarterbacks or guitar heroes?” I know who gets my vote…

While taking a leisurely drive along the East Coast this Sunday or Monday, and you start to feel queasy, cancel Christmas! As some of you may have heard, Russia launched a Mars probe a few months back called Phobos-Grunt. It’s destination was the Mars moon Phobos, and it’s goal was to land on the surface, conduct tests, and return to Earth. However, this was not to be because after launch, the craft had problems with it’s boosters and ended up stuck in the Earth’s orbit. Russian scientists had a three day window to fix the problem, but were unable to. So now the craft is part of a LONG list of Russian Phobos failures (not to mention hella space junk!)

There are several theories about this mission. One of which from Russia’s very own Roscosmos chief, Vladimir Popovkin, who went so far as to suggest that someone had sabotaged the probe.

“It would not be desirable to accuse anybody, but today there are very powerful means of influence for space vehicles which cannot be excluded,” he said in an interview with the Russian daily Izvestia, translated by ABC News. He gave no specifics, and sources say the U.S. government, mildly offended, stopped helping the Russians track their errant probe in its final days.

1. There has been speculation that Phobos wasn’t a moon, but something “made to look like a moon/rock”, thus suggesting that perhaps it was a giant “alien base”. Check this out: http://www.rense.com/general20/eisenhowerWH.htm

2. Russia has tried 19 times many times to send probes to Phobos and failed. That is scientific fact that anyone could look up. They all failed for one reason or another, but there are no eye witnesses as to why they failed. We only what we are told. We don’t know if perhaps they fail because they are intercepted and destroyed by aliens. Although, we’ve sent satellites past Phobos and took detailed pictures, and that didn’t get shot down. But if these aliens are monitoring us, then they know our intent wasn’t to LAND as the Russians intended.

3. That the Phobos-Grunt probe was never intended to go to Phobos, and that it didn’t suffer from rocket booster failure. That it was placed into orbit by the Russians and Chinese, with the intent that it would fall to Earth.

Big deal right? Not so fast. NASA and ISS astronauts have conducted tests over the years on bacteria in space and found that it actually grows at a very rapid rate for some reason. If this thing falls to Earth, it most likely will hit water because most of the Earth is comprised of water. Very rarely does a satellite or space junk actually hit populated areas. It’s by sheer luck that they do. Usually the craft burns upon on re-entry. We’ve been told by the Russians that this craft is LOADED with fuel, which was to propel it to the Mars moon. But the fuel isn’t likely to cause environmental harm because it will burn up in the atmosphere along with most of the craft. Notice I said “most”?

Well, it just so happens that Russia had plans to not only investigate Phobos, but play chemistry while visiting. They wanted to see how bacteria responded during it’s journey, and maybe leave some on the surface for kicks. What the media oddly never mentions, is that there are many different types of bacteria onboard, some of which are toxic! Oopsy! It just so happens that the compartment carrying these samples is heavily protected by heat shields so that they survive re-entry once the cargo returns. Fair enough right?

Did you happen to catch the part where I said that bacteria grows faster than a 12 year old’s boner while in space? Did you also catch the part where I said this thing has been trapped in orbit for several months, and that the only part likely to survive re-entry was now filled to the brim with toxic bacteria? One of which is associated with Anthrax! So it this another failed attempt by the Russians? Or perhaps a probe that was purposely disabled by aliens monitoring the launch, so that it never reaches their secret base? Or is it a highly deadly weapon of mass destruction set to destroy half the world’s population, making Russia the new “Kings of the World”?

We shall see this Sunday! If that bacteria brimming petri dish of a cone comes crashing down in Manhattan, don’t say you weren’t warned.

They say you should never stop learning and I agree. I’ve learned more in the last 10 years then I have in the last 31 years. Especially when it comes to things that matter like how to succeed at marriage, how to raise children, how to keep up with all of the technology advances, how to mud dry wall, how to lay tile, how to work on small engines, came to better understand the universe and all that is in it, and came to understand what it means to have a “relationship with God”. But there was something I learned recently that turned out to be surprisingly simple! And it came by way of the media and CourtTV. Yes, I have learned how to murder someone AND get away with it (i’m kidding of course, but stay with me)…

Now, i’m 100% sure that it’s a skill I’ll never have to use unless it’s self-defense, and even then you never know how that will turn out. But regarding this Casey Anthony trial, I can’t say I was all that suprised with the verdict but it was still shocking. It’s sad just how much common sense the judicial system can lack. Law has become a game of loopholes rather than justice. The money aspect has always been there, but now we have to deal with the celebrity factor and all of the book deals, reality TV shows, and a sweeps week exclusive with Oprah. I’m sorry, but the Prosecutors in this case screwed up royally, and as a result Casy Anthony is a free woman and Caylee is gone forever. Casey probably skipped with excitement out of the court house and back to the jail, trying ever so hard not to high-five someone along the way. Or better yet, do a few Jello shots and maybe a flash a boob to one of the security guards. So what if she got in trouble for lying? It sure beats the death penalty! Now she can look forward to all those weekend nights in total anonyminity, living it up at some new ”towney bar”, or change her name and join a Lingere Football team, or maybe even consider doing a Playboy spread? Gee… no one saw that one coming! Whatever! The fact remains that a precious little girl is dead and we ALL KNOW Mommy did it.

July 5, 2011: Casey Anthony acquitted of murdering Caylee, but convicted of lying to police.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Can you believe this people??? So, first she was kidnapped by “Zanny”, but then the idea that she drowned accidentally in the pool comes about? If she drowned in the pool, it was without her parents knowledge otherwise there would have been no reason for Casey to have to admit to them that she had been missing for a month and was kidnapped. Right? I suppose Caylee could have drowned in the pool by accident, but it wasn’t on Grandma’s watch I can bet you that. Here is very likely scenario: Parents are gone so Casey takes Caylee over to Grandmas to swim. However, Casey also calls up her boyfriend and tells him to come over. He shows up and before you know it, they’re inside having sex on the living room floor while Caylee swims. Afterwards, the young lovers emerge only to discover that Caylee had drowned. Casey’s parents probably hated her boyfriend(s), and told her not to be bringing them over to swim when they weren’t home. So, Casey couldn’t tell the truth, which was: “I was busy screwing my boyfriend and while doing so, Caylee drowned”. Because if that were true, Casey would certainly get arrested and thrown in jail. So, she went into cover-up mode which was to dispose of the body and make like she was abducted.

This tactic also doesn’t hold much weight, and pretty much sums up what a psychopath Casey actually is. Any loving parent would literally go out of their minds if they couldn’t locate one of their children in as little as five minutes. When our youngest son was about 3yrs old, he went over to the neighbors house (as he frequently did to play with their 3yr old son), but they weren’t home. Instead, he decided to let himself in via the unlocked back door and proceeded to play with his buddy’s toys! He was gone about five minutes before my wife and I went insane calling out for him, but he couldn’t hear us. Within minutes we had about six different neighbors looking for him. I checked the neighbors repeatedly but never considered that he went inside house because they weren’t home. People are checking the woods, the creek, repeatedly calling out his name, my wife is crying, and I’m on the verge of a massive heart attack. It just wasn’t like him to wander off randomly. He had to be somewhere around the neighbors house, so I went back for another look. I went around back and walked up to the patio door to take a look, when I noticed it was open about three inches. There he sat, on the floor, in toy heaven like it was no big deal!

This just goes to show you that we couldn’t go five minutes without knowing where our son was, much less 30 days! And I can assure you that we wouldn’t have been out bar hopping or shopping at JC Pennys! My wife and I would have called our parents because we would have needed comforted ourselves. Plus, they are our parents! You can’t keep a missing child a secret for 30 days unless you are the one that was involved. Period. Yet somehow or another they found her innocent!? What about the internet searches on “how to get rid of a dead body”? What about the fact that the trunk of the car smelled like death? If my trunk smelled like a dead body (which I can only assume is horrifically unbearable), and my son was missing, I can assure you that even my own mother would would be all over me about it. A person’s trunk doesn’t just smell like a dead body out of random chance, or a spilled chemical. If something smells like a dead body, then it’s pretty likely a dead body has been involved! But no…. she’s innocent. And all because they couldn’t find enough evidence that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was the killer. How she managed to pull this off is beyond belief! No blood? No DNA? No hair? NOTHING? How in the world they didn’t find Caylee’s hair in that trunk is surprising. But I guess if she killed her, then wrapped her up and put her in the trunk, there wouldn’t be much of a chance for hair to fall out. And if there was no blood, then you’ve got nothing.

What gets me through the day is knowing that in the end, Casey will have to answer God for what she has done. And even if she gives her life to Christ some day, she will still have to answer for her sins. So as sad as Caylee’s death is, I feel that she’s in heaven sitting on the lap of Christ. Just as the song says: “Jesus Loves the little children”. I recently read the NY Times best seller “Heaven Is For Real”, a true story about a young boy who temporarily died and went to heaven (and as he grew, and he started talking about it to his parents), it gives us all hope that “just what If it really happened?” I believe it did. And what’s so wrong with trusting in that? What harm comes if it’s not true and heaven isn’t real? You live a good life filled with hope, and in the end it is all true, we will be in heaven! I if it’s not true and there is nothing… Wouldn’t you rather live your life on the chance that is IS real? Especially since eternity is on the line? I’ll try to live a good God based life and take my chances, because too much is on the line if I’m wrong. It is this belief that provides comfort in trusting that little Caylee is happy and alive in the presence of Christ, in a perfect world, a perfect body, and without fear. If her mom did do it, Caylee is probably praying for her daily with the hope that her mom confess, repent, and beg God for forgiveness. She will still be punished, but she will still go to heaven.

This is what I believe. The whether you do or not is immaterial. It still makes me sick this travesty has happened though. And I’ll never be convinced otherwise that Casey got away with murder. She only had but one chance to redeem herself to God. I just hope she understands this before it’s too late. We never know when it will be our time, so it is important to get yourself right with God ASAP. After we die, there aren’t any second chances.
